Apnea & Narcolepsy

Posted by DeAnna on September 23, 1998 at 15:50:39:

I am a 27 year old woman that was just diagnosed recently with Narcolepsy/Cataplexy and Position Related Obstructive Sleep Apnea. I am currently under a Neurologist's care for the Narcolepys/Cataplexy attacks (unsuccessfully at the moment-still falling asleep several times daily) but no one has given me any advice about the apnea except to "sleep on my side" the more I read about my diagnosed apnea the more scared I get that I'm not doing anything to help it. I loathe going to bed at night - the insomnia is horrible and I sometimes just lay there (on my side, of course) and watch the clock. The headaches from the Narcolepsy are horrible if I take a nap during the day and when I do actually fall asleep at night, I only stay asleep for a few minutes. This has been going on for several years now and finally I have a name for the problem, but no advice on how to actually FIX the problem. Anyone have any advice???
