Marty...I have flown commercial airlines (various) several times with my BiPAP. ALWAYS take it carry-on...USAir gave me a tag that reads "LIFE SUPPORT EQUIPMENT" about 5 years ago. I have protected that little tag with laminate. I carry the BiPAP, spare mask, filters, fuses; humidifier with spare gaskets and a half-gallon of distilled water in a Rubbermaid container; all contained in a soft-sided bag (with 2 zippered pockets in addition to the large main compartment) which fits easily in an overhead compartment or snugly under a seat.
The first time I flew out of Pittsburgh, the security guard at the scanner asked me about it. He is now on CPAP, as is the husband of one of the female guards at USAir's boarding facility.
You never know when what looks like a glitch may save the life of another!.....George
