Jim...I had exactly the same experience back in April. I was, however, able to use my BiPAP through the entire pneumonia infection. It was my first experience with pneumonia, and not one I'll welcome back. Don't hesitate to take a secoud course of antibiotics if the first one doesn't completely stop the infection. My doctor gives me Phenegran (a non-narcotic) for cough, and it works well for me. Best wishes.....George
