Depending on the amount of wakings that you experience without CPAP, I think that it's probably a lot less with, than without. I had 63 per hour - I don't wake up near that number with my CPAP, even though I still do a little when the vent air hits the pillow...you also will not remember the awakenings when you sleep without the CPAP, even though you are constantly waking up. That's why most people don't even suspect they have apnea before being diagnosed.
