Because of the way alcohol is metabolized (blood sugar goes way up then way down), alcohol consumption at night can disturb sleep. Even people without OSA experience this. When the sugar goes down, you wake up or become more wakeful. If you aren't yet feeling 100% even with CPAP, your doctor is probably telling you to do everything you can to improve your condition--including eating right, getting more exercise, cutting back on caffeine and alcohol, and developing good sleep habits. CPAP isn't a silver bullet--it doesn't fix everything, it only assists your breathing so you can sleep better. The rest is up to you--literally.
Personally, I cut my alcohol consumption down to nearly nothing. It just isn't worth it to me to keep consuming it. The low-alcohol stuff tastes too crummy. If you like to go out with the guys, or drink a few as you bowl, then you might not like the idea of cutting back, since drinking is part of the socializing. However, only you know how you feel. Only you know if you are doing enough to make yourself feel better. Only you know if it is worth making any sacrifices, no matter how small.
