I assume you mean "intubate" not "intervate".
A breathing tube is placed in your windpipe from soon after you fell asleep to right before you woke up and is routine, not only for your procedure but for most operations. There is no evidence that this causes alterations in smell or taste. There is also a word "inervate" which refers to what things a nerve goes to and affects (such as which muscle is contracted or which area of your body feels pain from a particular nerve).
I am not familiar with the term "Insta-Trunk" in relationship to anesthesia even though I am an anesthesiologist in private practice for almost 11 years. The closest thing I can come up with is "Insta-Trache" (I may have misspelled it) an emergency tracheostomy device, not in routine use.
