cpap - pneumonia connection

Posted by Elinor on June 20, 2000 at 09:11:44:

I have been sleeping with a cpap machine for the last 5 months. This weekend I developed pneumonia. Other then the sleep apnea I am in good health. I am convinced that there is a connection between the two - the potential for the air pressure (mine is set at 8) to push bacteria down into the lungs. Is anyone out there aware of any such connection? Has anyone had a similar experience?
