Don't ever think for a moment that you had a "relatively easy time" of it, because you didn't--you had the same troubles we all have, but you were motivated to stick with it, accepted the not-so-nice stuff (achy hips), and simply got on with life. I really and truly think attitude plays a huge role in how well we do with CPAP. Some think I view life through rose-colored glasses because I try to focus on the positive, and put CPAP in perspective, but truly, there are many, many folks who have experiences similar to yours, but they feel no need to write about it, and many see no reason to even seek out more info on it--and there's nothing wrong with that. CPAP has really turned my life around--I just hate to think that some folks might be scared off from it because they think CPAP is too onerous.
Don't worry about the weight. As you become more active, you'll see a difference. I think I must have turned into solid lard, because it didn't take much of an increase in activity to make the inches begin to melt away; however, because muscle weighs more than fat, I didn't see much of a change in total poundage for a long time. According to the scale, I haven't lost all that much, but in appearance there is a huge difference (so much so that one of my friends told me tonight that she dreamed I melted down to pencil thin). All I can say is to take advantage of how good you feel to put some positive habits in place regarding exercise and healthy eating--when you are feeling better, you are more able to deal with the little set-backs we all go through with weight-loss.
Good luck, and keep up the positive posts!
