Slightly upright sleeping seems to be very beneficial for me. The reasonably objective things I can report are:

1. I travel internationally a great deal and when travelling overnight, I ask the cabin staff to wake me if I snore. I also ask them after I've slept whether I snored (and the person sitting next to me). They have always said I didn't snore.

2. I have twice recently been in hosptial and slept with my head up, and have asked staff to report snoring or breathing difficulty (I was monitored every 1/2 hour). No snoring.

3. Yesterday i went to my ENT specialist to get my nose checked out and he said that elevated sleeping reduces the blood flow to the turbinates and therefore also reduces swellling of the nose and airway restriction. BUT it may do nothing for the rear airway which is the major cause of apnea.

AND may not work for everyone. All the medicos I am dealing with in relation to apnea say that everyone should try it to see if sleeping with the head elevated works.
