Pretty much Barry covered the basics. I used to wake up at night gasping for air, but I just told myself that I was having a nightmare. Sometimes I would dream that I am drowning even. People I shared hotel rooms with on occasion told me I stopped breathing in my sleep. I poo-poo'ed what they said, and didn't believe them. Then after a while I started feeling run down, and generally crappy. I thought I was falling into depression. An ex-girl of mine told me that I stopped breathing in my sleep. She then gathered up some info on sleep apnea. I read it, a lot of the stuff was exactly what I was going through. I went to my PCP, he told me that I should leave the diagnosing to him, I told him give me the referral, or he would no longer be my PCP. Well I had the sleep test done, and you guessed it. I have severe sleep apnea. Fortunately for me I took to the CPAP treatment like a duck to water. I hope you do too. It's like a whole new world once you start getting a good nights sleep.

See your Dr, get referred to a sleep center and get checked.

PEACE!!!
