The dry mouth is frequently a symptom of mouth breathing. While it does tend to happen to some people more often at higher settings, that is only one of amny possible fixes. I had no problem with it at first, but now seem to do it even though my pressures have lowered. Some people solve the poblem with a chin strap, some go to an all-face mask (i.e., it covers the mouth as well as the nose), and others, like me, use a small piece of micropore paper tape (available at the bandage section of you local drugstore) to keep our mouths closed.

I agree that with a thirty pound weight loss, though, you might want to get a retitration done, in any event.
