I'm 24 and I had the tonsils and UPPP in January this year. I was able to eat toast with heaps of butter and poached eggs after about 4 days. I was back on normal food after a week - 10days. I know that the pain is horrible at first but it does get better!
Drink plenty of water. I was going to bed and setting my alarm for very 3 hrs or so, that way I wouldn't have a dry sore throat. For me that was the biggest problem!
Good luck!
