John, I got a F&P humidifier that had a defective thermostat. No matter where I set it, it would come on but turn off almost immediately, without heating the water -- ever. I have no idea if this was a widespread problem. F&P's customer service seemed never to have heard of it. I doubt that there are many out there that are defective, frankly, but it did happen at least once.
