Heating the water puts a lot more humidity in the air; and may not be needed at all if you live in a fairly humid area; but will probably be needid if you live in a very dry, or colder heating season area. Some people also get along with just a passive humidifier.

Mask selection is somewhat of a trial and error process. If nasal pillows work for you - fine; but they may not.

For the nose problem I highly recommend the Mirage Full Face Mask (I believe that the Ultra Mirage is a Nasal mask) and cannot recommend suspension of CPAP for any reason (see my respons post to "brinasia" to get an idea of how poorly I think of that suggestion.

AutoCPAP's are great if you get one with the software (so you can monitor how things are going)and it works well for you; however, I do caution people to check things out and rent one if possible to insure it works for you. See my previous post for detailed comments on this issue. Note that many people do just fine on ordinary CPAP's (although I understand the allure of the latest technology).
