Agree with RenoTom that this is a complex issue. I have a form of OSA where the pressure setting has proved very difficult to estimate, and sleep dr insisted I be on an AutoPAP machine. Humidity and temperature of air entering the nose is also important, but is difficult to stabilise sufficiently (working on it).

Because I have a paramedical background (not in sleep and moved on to something else) I am changing settings (mainly max pressure) and keeping a diary as a kind of research program to augment the data from the machine. This is making me even more convinced of the complexity of the CPAP machine-sufferer dyad.

There is therefore a danger (for some sufferers at least) of seeing the pressure as a **magic and unique number**. I feel that there is too much discussion in this forum which conveys that assumption.

However, as public forums go, this one is better modified, better informed and more useful and relevant to the topic than any I know.
