Posted by Amy on August 08, 2000 at 07:39:39:I'm 36 and since last October after weekly singing I had a bout of laryngitis and I've just never been the same since. I'd wake up and my eyes were always puffy like I never slept, I was SO tired that I actually almost feel asleep at the wheel a few times. It was so bad I developed general anxiety, muscle twitches, etc. I started smoking more than usual to stay awake, about 1-2 packs a day. Has anyone quit and found it helped with apnea? I had all kinds of routine tests (blood tests, chest x-ray all normal) and the worry over all these months has given me a bout of insomnia on top of everything else! My usual night is go to bed at 11:00, wake up at 3:00, toss and turn the rest and get up to work at 5:00 am. I also notice sometimes I'm holding my breath when I wake up, like my throat is closed, so I think I may have apnea although I don't really snore and I'm not really overweight. I still have my tonsils. I finally am going to see a sleep specialist after switching doctors (the first one thought I was nuts) next month. Will they look at my throat? Do I need to see a ENT specialist too? I am so tired all the time that my quality of life is definitely going downhill...
