My cardiologist recommended that I get a sleep study after being hospitalized with chest pains for 4 days. He discovered that my heart stopped beating 3-5 seconds several times while I was sleeping. My chest pains were caused from muscle spasms caused by severe acid reflux. He gave me a 2-month supply of medication (no refill) for the acid reflux and told me once I have my sleep test and get treatment, I won't need the pills any more. He was right. I still have a lot of pills left.
