Ears, hearing & CPAP

Posted by Mary Ann on August 09, 2000 at 19:13:13:

I am new to CPAP and am having a terrible time.
It not a question of keeping my mouth closed, I HAVE to as I can't reclose it if I open. And, my ears feel like they are going to explode My setting is 12. I was sent to an ENT and he said my pressure is too high. BUT my sleep clinic DR>
who is the most "unnice" doctor I have ever tr4ied to work with. told me it was determined that I needed that setting. I have been in the hospital for 2 nights (a nightmare) I just can't go back again, money-wise, or any other-wise. I
can't see why he can't lower the pressure to say, 10 and just SEE if I feel better for a week. I have sleep apnea. He has a very bad attitude. I
sort ot detected this from the technicians who did my study. They were obviously scared of him.
AND< I hardly slept. Maybe, an hour. I was depressed before and now I am almost beyond. I have no idea what to do. I plan to call my internist tomorrow, but all doctors stick together. I just don't see any hope. I have no more money to spend seeking help. The ENT did find a deviated septum, but he said it was not too bad and that his suggestion was lowered pressure rather than surgery. He would only send his findings to my internist. I feel he has had problems too, with my sleep clinic DR. I still have the dental thing to consider, but it costs
$1000. and isn't really for central apnea.
