The downside is that - unless they've revised the model since mine - you can't run it off an inverter (according to F&P), and it has no DC-interface. I also don't think that you can easily disable the humidifer. However, it can run on the electricity in almost any country in the world (you will need an adpater for the plug shape). I was a $60 inverter labeled "AC-Anywhere" on sale in Comp-USA. On the box, they claim they put out 120 volts (+/- 10%) and 60 cycles +/- 10%. I don't really understand why you can't use this, but F&P says no.
I like the machine as it's got to take up less room than a spearate CPAP & humidifier. Also, it's only one plug and one hose. I took a bus trip in Ireland that had me in eight hotels in thirteen nights. Surely, separate units would have been cumbersome. I used tap water on that trip, as it really would have been too difficult to bother with distilled water.
