First of all, smoking causes respiratory distress, make your strained breating even more strained. Second, it reduces your blood oxygen, which is generally already too low (at least at night), if you have Sleep Apnea. Also, since you don't smoke ecatly the same amount at the same time each day, you will have difficulty deteriming the ideal CPAP setting. This is dones at a sleep lab, and is quite elusive to begin with (just read some of the posts here).
