LOVE CPAP !!

Posted by Wife of an OSA on September 10, 2000 at 22:12:13:

Hello all. I have posted before, but here I am again heralding the amazing difference in my wonderful hubby. He has been on CPAP for several months now, and I cannot tell you what a difference. I told him the other day , I feel like I have him back. I was literally watching him die, sleepless night by sleepless night. He was falling asleep on the ten minute ride from work, He was falling asleep on the couch exhausted at 4:30. On Saturdays he would sleep till at least 3:00pm and still be so tired. He never felt like going out, he would fall asleep in doctor's offices, in church, anywhere that he was still for more than one minute. Telling a story would take major concentration with long pauses in between.
NOW, he talks my ear off !!! I love it !! He actually gets up before I do everyday (including Saturday). He doesn't fall asleep at church , in the car, anywhere.. as a matter of fact, I go to bed before he does most nights.
If you've made it this far, here a some things that he does to make the CPAP more comfortable. He was having trouble with the mask making the bridge of his nose EXTREMELY sore, to the point of bleeding. He uses those "Breath Right" nasal strips, actually, I think he uses the Afrin brand called "Clear Passage", they are cheaper and he likes them better. Not only does it take care of that problem, but he also has very bad allergies that swell his nasal cavity and these open them up so that the cpap ca n push air into his nose. Sometimes he even uses two of the nasal strips (one slightly above the other), when one isn't doing the job. I hope this helps someone. I could kiss the person that invented cpap..
