UARS, flow transducer and ResMed Auto pap

Posted by kev on September 12, 2000 at 18:28:09:

I just last week found out there was something called Upper Airway Resistance Syndromw, which is different from sleep apnea. From what I understand, your Cpap can be correcting the apneas and not correcting the UARS. I also learned that my Auto Pap --a Res Med Auto Set T -- does not have the flow transducers necessary to detect and corrct the UARS. I found out that a Mellinckrodt (sorry, i can never spell that right) machine does have these transducers.

So here's my question--why have I not heard about this from any of the three different sleep docs I have been to in the last four years?

And why have I never heard about this flow transuder feature from either of the equipment suppliers I have bought Cpap machines from?

Finally: Is the Mallinkcrodt machine the only one that has these transducers, or is mine the only Auto Pap that doesn't have them?
