Welcome to the Apnea-Club! I was completely unaware that I had sleep apnea before going to the sleep lab...I am single so I do not have anyone sleeping next to me to tell me about my breathing problems...finding out that I stop breathing about 20 times an hour was quite a shock! I have read though that if you are not awake for more than a minute or so, you will NOT remember that you woke up. Most apnea events only last a few seconds sooo...
With regards to the moustache, with most masks I think you might have to shave it or at least trim it. You might want to try a full face mask, but I think the best thing would be to ask your doctor for nasal pillows...I don't think the 'stache would get in the way of these at all since they just rest in your nostrils. I have also found them much more confortable than masks, and they maintain a proper seal as long as your sleep tech sets them up properly with all the right parts. Check out some other posts about nasal pillows for more info.
