I'm sure that after a while the CPAP irritates the lining of the nose, causing it to swell, making breathing difficult through the nose, which in turn causes you to breath through your mouth, hence the snoring again.
My consultant increased my CPAP pressure which just made things worse. The best solution i've found is to wear a breath-right (or is it breath-easy?) strip over my nose and under the bubble, if you follow?
I've also tried a chin-strap made by Res-med, but it left my face looking like a road map in the morning. I now micro-pore my mouth shut with a little diamond shape hole cut into it to push a straw through if I need to drink during the night. I checked this out with my consultant first so DON'T STICK YOUR MOUTH CLOSED WITHOUT MEDICAL AGREEMENT! Hope this might help.
