Many people experience back pain after they acclimate to CPAP. Reason? As you correctly identified, staying on your back longer than before CPAP.
If you ever strained or injured you lower back, that strain or injury could be the culprit.
I have suffers several back strains and injuries. I had, and sometimes still do, pain that woke me up as nights. My physicians could do nothing other than prescribe pain killers. My solution was through a chiropractor friend who allowed me to control the number of visits I made to him. Since I was paying out of my pocket, not the insurance company, I demanded that he help me quickly. I went to him every 3 weeks for about a year before he got everything into place. Now I go about once every 3 months for maintaince. I know when I need to go when my back starts hurting. I do a lot of setting in front of this keyboard and monitor, and since I manufacture a headgear for nasal pillows, I set at a sewing machine a lot. That does cause me some back discomfort and it all worsens at night when I sleep.
If you do go to a chiropractor make sure he/she xrays your spine to make sure there isn't something in there that needs medical attention more than chiropractic care. Let him/her know that you are paying out of your pocket and that you can't afford a long series of treatments. You can bill your own insurance if you want to.
Hope this helps some.
Thanks
