Hi Delores,
We are kindred spirits. I just finished my first week on CPAP as well. I'm still feeling tired, but definitely less tired than usual. Unlike almost everyone that I've talked to, I really haven't had a difficult time adjusting to the mask. The Mirage mask, the one I wanted, had to be ordered for me, so they gave me just a regular run-of-the mill mask. I've been told that I could sleep in almost any conditions (except during a sleep study, of course), so I wasn't suprised that I didn't have much trouble sleeping with the mask on. The Mirage mask finally came in, so last night I used it without incident. Unlike yours, mine isn't too close to my eyes, but it does go almost completely over my top lip. My lips are dry anyway, so I wake up with my lips hurting. Add to that the "airlock" thing going on, that causes my lips to be sucked up against my teeth, and that equals really sore lips in the morning. Has this happened to anyone else, or am I just a freak of nature? Best wishes, Delores, and happy sleeping.
Tynya
