Briston4:

I am sure everyone understands the more time for evaluation in a situation can only be best. However, sleep apnea can and has been able to be diagnosed in one overnight session. Sometimes, the doctors will recommend a second overnight session just for clarification. I had two sessions but never missed work. As far as work goes, in most jobs, there is an "excused" absence and "leave of absence" for medical situations. You do not have to disclose what is going on unless you feel you have to do so. Although I am not a doctor, I don't believe you should have ever missed that much work, unless you are just falling asleep every couple of minutes or if you work with dangerous things. I was diagnosed overnight, went for a second evaluation and had surgery a month or so later. I took "excused" absence from my job for 10 days. I told them I had to do it for my health. It was very important to me. You might want to search a little deeper as to why your doctor recommended you not be at work. Great luck to you.
