Wacky CPAP change of pressure

Posted by dennybop on September 27, 2000 at 12:26:02:

Last night I woke up after about three hours of sleep (which isn't unusual) and noticed the pressure on my CPAP ()F&P HC200) seemed very low compared to the 15 it is set at. I was able to breathe in and out of my mouth without air coming out. I am sure I was totally awake and aware. I shut the machine down, stayed up for about 15 minutes and then restarted machine, disabling the ramp, and fell back to sleep still thinking it seemed low.
I awoke a couple of hours later to experience just the opposite. The pressure was so high it was blowing my mouth open! Whever I relaxed, my mouth blew open again and again. I am new to the CPAP, but this isn't all in my mind. I tried calling my RT today to see what gives, but haven't heard back from him. Anyone got any ideas what I can do to fix this short of having to take the machine in for readjustment? Or is this usual as I get more used to the CPAP? Thanks, Dennis
