A shared responsibility

Timely words, Sandman. The ethical weight must always be on the side of maintaining the physical and psychological well being of people who access this site. If this is at a cost of some freedom of speech, it is a price we all should be willing to pay.

This is a responsibility we posters also share - not to put others in the way of possible danger because we innocently generalise around something that has worked for us or, in our sleep deprived desolation, propose some kooky contention that we really believe at the time. But we will err, so we will continue to need mediation.

There is also a responsibility readers of this site share. To at all times assess what is said as another individual's experience that may or may not be useful or helpful and to weigh that experience with care. Not take it as gospel. But some people will be more credulous, and they will need mediation.

And you, Sandman, of course have the greater responsibility - because the site exists under your imprimatur. I like others have experienced your displeasure and, upon reflection, have agreed that it was warranted. You must err on the side of safety. That is the responsible and ethical thing to do.

You are doing a fine job for all of us - as are those many others, whose cybernames are now as well known to me as those of my family. This site has been, and continues to be a powerful influence over my own ability to cope with the trials of OSA, CPAP and sleep debt. Thank you.
