I have had 4 sleep studies in the last 10 years. The first one was at home and was told no sleep problems. The second was at a sleep clinic and was told had only mild OSA. No follow-up was ever done. The third was over a year ago at the same clinic and was told had mild to moderate OSA. Then, was sent again for CPAP study. When saw neurologist, he told me it was moderate to severe and that CPAP was needed at level 4 per doctor who analyzed both sleep studies. Never got rid of daytime sleepiness when using CPAP. Kept complaining of EDS to doctor and was referred to neurologist again. Neurologist placed me on the ritalin but ritalin doesn't always work. Tried provigil samples and that worked pretty good, but insurance won't pay for it (over $100 for 30 day supply) because it's for narcolepsy, not sleep apnea. Had to pay full price for ritalin because insurance wouldn't pay because I'm over 18!!! Finally got neurologist to do whatever was needed for insurance to pay for ritalin so I could get it for $5 copay.

Regardless, I still have problem falling asleep at work and "blanking out" while driving, just not as often.

Plan to change doctors soon, so maybe I'll get some answers from new doctors.

Dealing with diabetes type II, fibromyalgia, TMJD, GERD, stricture, osteoarthritis (since I was 30 yrs old), and other chronic pain. Darvocet and muscle relaxers help me sleep better because pain is lessened, but I understand that's not good for OSA. Don't really know which problem is worse.

Anyone else dealing with these type of multiple problems as well as OSA?
