Hello Visa

If you have not already done so, you should discuss your experience and concerns with your doctor.

It's not clear from your posting if you have been diagnosed for, and are on some manner of treatment, for obstructive sleep apnea. In any case, some professional medical advice ought to be a priority for you.

Alarming choking-like sensations (from my own experience) certainly may occur if the apnea condition is left untreated. The worse ones seems to happen (again from my experience) from a build up of mucuous (mucus) or phlegm(flem)in your throat coinciding with an apnea.

I too have had experiences such as you described and it was after an especially frightening episode (again, much as you described) that I sought medical advice, was diagnosed with OSA and put onto to CPAP. No problem now.
