Visa,

It is urgent that you get diagnosed for this as soon as you can. The immediate danger is choking with complete blockage of your airway and aspiration into your lungs, with subsequent infection or worse. This could be due to your tongue structures closing off your airway, but can be due to other causes as well. I would not eat or drink anything for at least 3 hours before going to bed. Not all folks with sleep apnea are overweight, a lot of them are, but by no means all of them. Please see a doctor as soon as you can get an appointment. Could be gastric reflux, sleep apnea and several other things. Each is quite treatable once identified.
