Most topical creams are OK for short term use, but have problems when used indefinitely. I would probably use them on face but small amounts and away from eyes and mouth.
DO change your head gear tho. No cream will block the continuing allergic reaction. The allergy will probably get worse.
There are alternative straps/head gear etc. The fleece as a barrier to contact between your straps and your face may be adequate... will take a few weeks for your skin to clear up.
