Boy you use big words. :) In my particular case, my brain does not tell me when I have too much co2 in my blood. It is believed that it MAY be part of what is causing my lactic acidosis. Of Course, the team of doctors can NOT agree. Some believe it is my Mitochondrial Disease that is causing the lactic acidosis, others believe it is the Mito Disease causing the co2 retention and lack of o2, which causes the lactic acidosis, and others yet believe that the Mito Disease is not relevant with the co2 retention and lactic acidosis. I frankly don't care lol, but it seems to matter to them what causes everthing. I don't know if lactic acidosis is similar or the same as systemic acidosis or not.

Maybe others can step in here and answer your other questions :)
