This isn't just a question for drivers - but also for pilots. Lets just say that the military and NASA learned long ago that a "nap" while the plane was safely cruising on Autopilot during a long flight substantially reduced landing problems (and crashes).

While it is politically unacceptable in this country to let commercial pilots take such naps (even with a back-up co-pilot wide awake), there are forign airlines that have adopted such a policy.

The Sandman himself was involved with a lot of the key reaserch on this.
