Run, run away!!!!!

I would drop this DME like a bad transmission!

It is not relevant if they made money or not! That is their problem and the negotiation of the contract with the insurance company.

Call your insurance company and explain what happened to a supervisor or the person in charge of the DME contracts. They will want to know, as I am sure this violates their contract. This may also violate the law, especially if you have medicare. Ask them if there is another DME they do business with and SWITCH if you can!

A secondary note, it's at least tacky and poor business practice.

I would talk to the president of the DME company and explain what has happened. Maybe he is in on it and maybe this is just some poor misguided over zealous employee. He should know that this kind of thing will raise flags and won't be tolerated.

Next, I would call the state insurance board and report it. I don't know if it actually illegal, but they can tell you if it is. If you are on medicare I would call the medicare fraud line.

Good luck with this lemon of a DME. I would encourage you to let us all know which company pulls this stuff!
