Cue, your response tracks along the lines that I would think would be the case regarding CPAP use and colds or flu viruses. I did ast the RT why it would be worse and he said that the air flow, especially at higher pressures ( mine is set at 13) could force the mucous and othe junk in the nasal passages back up into the sinuses and even the ears resulting in possible infections in those areas. Then again, when you stop to think about it, this can happen even without CPAP so maybe it's nothing to worry about. I would think that the improved air flow into the nares and thus through the rest of the upper air passages would be more likely to hasten the recovery from colds and flu if only because the user would be sleeping better and, therefore, be better able to fight off the viruses and or germs. Does that make sense or am I off-track with thinking this? Empty Nester
