You didn't say how the night went--was your mask comfortable? was it leaking? did you wake a lot because of all the newness of wearing a mask, etc.? it did take me a few days to adjust, and several things made a difference:

1) the DME rep had left two little ports in the mask open that I found out should have been closed (they were to add oxygen if one was on oxygen), so the pressure was not what it should have been, and I was still having apneas

2)I had trouble with mouth breathing, which totally defeats the purpose of CPAP--tried the chin strap and was still mouth breathing, so now use millipore tape, and it works great (and makes CPAP work great too)

3) I went to bed a bit early so I could read a bit with the mask on and CPAP running (using the ramp feature)--now that i've been on it for two weeks, I don't really need to do that anymore, but it still makes the transition easier

The first days to a week I was on CPAP i had a sore chest and back, probably from using muscles differently. I also had been hoping for a big change in terms of energy level right away, and didn't get it. But the big changes i did get were no more being drenched in sweat every night, no more morning headaches, no more sleeping so lightly that I woke up a hundred times a night, no more having to go to the bathroom six times a night. So even though I didn't have the burst of new energy I had hoped for, there was a lot of good stuff. Now I am hoping for that energy burst sometime over the next few weeks or months.

Good luck, and I hope you see some really positive changes really soon.
