I agree with the others.
Your doc has probably heard more about sleep apnea than he knew a few years ago. He may be more inclined to refer you now. If not, consider taking the results of an on line sleep test in with you (such as the one on this site), and /or information about OSA and the need for treatment.
He might even want to check out this site!
Do push for a referral. The sensation of irregular heart rhythm is not diagnostic, but is very concerning. There has recently been info in the medical literature linking OSA with cardiac rhythm disturbances that are reversible with treatment. (Seen in Internal Medicine Alert - no longer have the specific reference.) Hypertension has also been linked.
