I have seen a recent FDA warning that products like these that claim to be able to prevent apneas are making an unsubstantiated medical claim and should be treated with caution. (Maybe it is even posted here somewhere ... it was VERY recent).

They did not mention efficacy for reducing snoring in that particular warning, though.

But! here's what Dr William Dement has said in his book "The Promise of Sleep": The odds are that if you snore loudly and have high blood pressure, that you DO have a condition that should be looked into by a *qualified* physician. (paraphrased)

As a rule of thumb, the louder you snore, the more partial blockage of the throat you are experiencing. You might be pre-apnea, but getting close ... but isn't that the perfect time to seek preventive treatment instead of facing all the tragic symptoms that you can see described so eloquently in this forum?

There are many alternatives to surgery, by the way.
