Posted by Chele on June 10, 2001 at 07:14:51:Monday night I have scheduled a long-awaited (5 months) sleep study including esophageal pressure manometry (PES) to verify UARS, and maybe to titrate. Wouldn't you know, I came down this morning with a bad sore throat. Does anybody here, who's had that test, or maybe one of the techs, know if the sore throat condition is likely to make it impossible to have this test, or so uncomfortable as to prevent sleeping at all? Obviously I can call the sleep center and ask on Monday, but would like to get a sense now, of whether or not it will be a big problem. Since it would be another 2-3 month wait to get back in to Johns Hopkins, I really don't want to cancel. But if I go ahead and it yields no useful results, the wait will be even longer, because insurance covers only 2 PSGs per year, and I had (a fairly useless) one in December.
