Pappy , one of the tricks a lot of us use is, first thing in the morning, to disconnect the hose from the humitifier, use the humitifier hose to cap itself off sealing itself. Next hook the mask hose back to the pap machine and let it run for 5 or 10 minutes while you are getting ready. This will dry out all the moisture accumulated in it and eliminate any mold buildup.I clean my hoses about once or twice a month with this method. Read as much of the pass posts as you can stand as most of these little survival tricks have been published in the forum many times over in the last couple of years. As for the straps i being allergic to the originial straps use a resperonics white soft cap. Then i use streatch head sweatband( or the equivlent)and size it to fit over the front of the mask(above the swivle)and around the back of my head. The whole rig is fit fairly loose and does a goo djob of stoping leaks and keeping the rig in place all night.A bonus is i have not had to have an ear reattached in over a year now. : )
