Snowman:

So how's it going overall.

You are correct in that use of flow limitation as a precursor is to prevent a more serious problem form occuring, which is the same reason that AutoCPAPs use snore, hypopneas, and a new one in Europe is using throat impedance.

The problem lies in the fact that not everyone has a good snore, not everyone has a good flow limitation, not everyone even has a good solid hypopnea, and I don't yet know enough about the throat impedance method to say much. If a person dosn't have the key machine required precursors, or enough of them - it won't read them right and won't respond appropriately. All machines have such problems with a percentage of the population. The good news is that ususally if a flow limitation machine won't work, that a non-flow limitation machine will; and vica versa.

I sure wish we could get away from the amount of trail and error testing that some of us have to go through to get a machine that responds appropriately, and then get it set-up properely for us.

As far as to how the AutoSet T actully works, its not a trade secret to those in the medical field who ask (ie: as Sleep Dr can get the details). I will admit that I just might be the first non-medical professional to be granted that level of access by ResMed.

Best wishes.

Perry
