I purchased my Autoset-T online from Cpap-Direct and it came with the software and cable at almost half the price the local provider quoted for the Autoset alone. Plus the local outlet refused to consider selling the software.
I believe that anyone who is comfortable with configuring computers and is willing to spend some time learning the "lingo" will be able to understand the software and the data downloaded from the machine.
I have found that I have had to depend on myself for my treatment. My primary Dr. never made the diagnosis dispite my comments about falling asleep while working, driving, and at the dinner table. I was forced to make my own appointment with the specialist and had them get the referal from the primary Dr. for insurance payment reasons. Then the specialist was reluctant to change from the CPAP set at 20cm to BiPAP or AutoPAP dispite the compliance problems I had with mouth blowback and sever leakage. (And yes I tried the full face mask, tape, and chin straps discussed in these forums without success.) These conditions negated a lot of the benefit I was getting from the CPAP. After arrainging to rent an Autoset-T for a month I basicly demanded a perscription for the Autoset-T from the specialist.
Despite my concerns about the response of the unit over 10cm, I am sleeping much better with the Autoset-T than the CPAP at the 20cm setting.
