I would suggest that you are not throwing any of the advantages away. For example. My AutoCPAP is currently set at 14 min, 18 max. Last night I averaged about 15. Thus I maintained my pressure on average 3 below where I would have to set my pressure with a normal CPAP. For a good portion of the night I ran at the min of 14.

Reducing my min, to say 12 does not give me near the quality of sleep on average that the 14 does. Reducing it below 12 isn't even worth discussing as I quickly go into major sleep depravation and problems. I know that my experience is not unique, in fact it is quite common for many people with AutoCPAPs with the minor change of what the max pressure is as differnt folks need differnt pressures.
