Strange dream & surgery went well

Posted by addy on June 26, 2001 at 13:07:02:

My CPAP wasn't necessary during hand surgery afterall. I was in a twilight sleep known as conscious sedation. The carpal tunnel release procedure was about 20 to 25 mins. and to me it seemed like I was awake but under the influence of valium (the versed). However, I was asleep in parts. The anesthesiologist used oxygen and monitored my pulse ox.
My strange dream happened during a nap, today. I went for a sleep study, in the dream, at this most disreputable-looking place. The test was 3 1/2 hours and no CPAP was ever used though some strange doctor was supposed to meet with me and recommend a CPAP claiming a CPAP was applied. There were animals all over the place, it was dirty and the staff was arguing about going on strike. I was walking around wearing my mask but it was not attached to a machine and I was warning patients in the waiting room that this place was no good. The only good point was that I brought my own camera and recorded myself sleeping - a most fitful sleep without CPAP.
I was telling people how my first test was at a wonderful lab - which by the way - my one and only test, thus far, in Dec. 2000 was at a wonderful, very reputable lab.
Weird how the subconscious mind loves the CPAP. Anyway, I thought you might find humor in this or maybe it's just some nightmare from getting over a week of pain meds., lol. Btw, I am eternally grateful to my lab, techs, doc and therapy.
Not bad for one-handed typing, huh?
