Hmmm, simple question, very tough answer. There is probably no one "Best" machine out there. One may work for one person but not for another.
I would do some reading on past forums on machine types and the different uses for each. Next, talk with your doctor about which kind he would recommend for you. He has the ultimate say in what you get as he writes the rx. Many doctors are open to pt concerns and inputs.
I have an auto-pap and have been very pleased with it. I have the Goodknight 418-A. The auto-paps collect a lot of data that can be downloaded if you or your DME have the right software. I also like the fact that the machine adjusts pressure to my needs during the night.
The issue of which auto-pap will work with a particular patient is a bit complicated. Search the past forums for "Perry" he is the expert on auto-paps and has made some recommendations in the past.
Be sure to get a heated humidifier, especially if you live in a dry climate.
Hope this helps,
