If you get the 418P with the software (and I feel the software is a must), then do daily downloads and save to a separate file (such as June26-01). In my opinion the most valuable piece of information is the 12 hour graph the 418P records - but it only saves it one day. Everything else is saved for 100 sessions (nights if you don't turn the machine on and off during the night).

I belive that if you were to download and save a month of nightly graphs - that you will then have a really good idea what is going on.

If you get all of this, I would be willing to talk to you (or anyone else with the 418P and software) to explain how to properely set up the machine so that the software gives proper data, and explain some of the more interesting bugs in the current version of the software. Otherwise, it is easy to get confused on a few things - especially if the machine thinks you have been using it for the previous 6 months (easy to have happen - produces some really strange summary data).
