Allergies vs Asthma

Sneezing:

Stare into a crystal ball with me...

There's someone who feels asthmatic.... looking at the lungs you see that there lungs are really messed up by the time they wheeze - advanced asthma.

Now look at what causes asthma. Asthma is the allergic reaction of the lungs (which are susposed to be immune), causing them to start swelling shut. Scanning lots of people you can see that many of them have initial minor swelling of the lungs, closing off the smallest airways, without any noticable breathing effect. Hmmmm...

Truth is that most people do not like being told that they have asthma. The then want to take a trip to Egypt and get wet, because most people will rapidely go into denile if the Dr tells them that it is asthma (and they won't take their Meds). What's a Dr to do? How about just tell them they have "Allergies" - people redily accept that, then they can go arround telling eveyone that they have "allergies" and take their meds when they feel the worst. Fact is most "allergy" problems is low level asthma.

Thus my medications are asthma medications, although many people call them "allergy" medications. One and the same for most people, ego and self immage is such a sensitive thing.

However, I suggest that you persue the full asthma test (the methyl colin challenge is the definitive test, all others are precursor test).

If you do have allergies / asthma, then you really need to be on routine maintenance medication to keep the allergies / asthma from getting worse. Caught early the level of needed medication is rather low, thus I would suggest that anyone having these problems get fully and properely checked out. Allergy / Asthma medications are individually matched to a person, although there are some general guidelines (which usually don't treat the exhaustion as I explained in the forum 18 post I referenced above).

Just so you know, I have actually been to Egypt and seen the Nile. I also spent many years refusing to go to a Dr, even when I knew that I had problems, becuase I did not want to face what a Dr would tell me. Only when I got to the point of virtually not being able to function, and having my hands, and the rest of me, swell up from allergy reactions, did I finally "cave in" and go to a Dr. By the way, once you get things fixed up and under control - DeNile is a nice place (and be sure to get a camel "taxi" ride).
