I have used both Respironics (not the "Total FACE") and the Mirage full face masks. The Respironics was so poor in quality and seal I had to tighten the straps so much it caused sores. The Mirage full face mask by RESMED is high quality and seals well, but not as good if used with a beard. I have found the Nasal Pillows work really good and have almost no leak because they are not having to seal ovver facial hair. Nasal pillows only touch the nostrils.

Since your husband is using 20/16 bilevel which is high pressure, he may have to use a full face mask if he can get it to seal. However, if he has the money, you may want to get a nasal pillow setup and try that because if he is sleeping on his side he may not lip leak with a chinstrap and the nasal pillows work so well. He probably would benefit from a heated humidifier. Also, after using 20/16 for a few weeks, he may be able to get retitrated while only sleeping on his sides, and be able to use a reduced pressure which would it easier to wear. The sleep tech may have attempted to titrate him while supine, going all the way up on pressure and then giving up, when if focusing on his side, a lower pressure combination may have been reached.
